Without water, no living thing can survive on Planet Earth.
And yet, as recently evidenced by the disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant, we humans have taken water for granted for far too long. We can avoid no longer our short-sightedness and lack of respect for the planet as well as for future generations.
We must act now.
OUR WATER OUR LIFE, Surfrider Foundation Japan’s new campaign, is about creating awareness about the state of our Mother Ocean, rivers, lakes and watersheds. We aim to expand our water quality testing program to monitor and research radiation levels in the ocean, as some areas of our beautiful coastline have sadly been contaminated after the triple disasters of quake, tsunami and meltdown that struck northeast Japan on and after March 11th, 2011.
As wave riders and ocean lovers , we are directly connected to the ocean. It is in our hands to make positive changes now and preserve safe, clean and healthy beaches, waves and oceans for generations to come.
OUR WATER OUR LIFE is a research program operated by Surfrider Foundation Japan with the support of industry experts and testing laboratories.
