Pre G7 “Ocean Pavilion” 開催

As you all know, the G7 is held annually to tackle the most challenging global issues of the time and this August, leaders from France, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States will meet in Biarritz, France, for the 2019 G7 Summit.
The French presidency has made a statement claiming an agenda directed towards: “reducing environmental inequality by protecting our planet through climate finance and a fair ecological transition, preserving biodiversity and the oceans”.
Surfrider Europe wants to amplify this message by hosting a pre-Summit event, Ocean Pavilion, from the 20th to the 23rd of August. Bringing together scientists, field experts, NGOs, businesses, policy makers, media and public figures, this event will offer four days centered around four topics:

– Ocean, Sports and Sustainable Tourism,
– Ocean & Biodiversity,
– Ocean & Plastic Pollution,
– Ocean & Climate.

This high-profile event is an ideal opportunity to harness international attention for environmental awareness and push a ‘blue’ agenda during the G7 Summit.

G7サミットは最も困難な世界的な問題に取り組むために毎年開催されており、今年は8月24日から3日間、フランス・カナダ・ドイツ・イタリア・日本・英国・の各国の首脳がフランスのビアリッツで会合します。

2019 G7サミットに向けて、議長国のフランスは、気候ファイナンスと公正な生態学的移行を通じて地球を保護し、生物多様性と海洋を保護することにより環境の不平等を削減することに向けた議題を主張する声明を発表しました。

ビアリッツに本拠地があるSurfrider foundation Europeは、サミット開催直前のイベントとして“Ocean Pavilion”を開催することで、このメッセージを拡大したいと考えています。科学者、現場の専門家、NGO、企業、政策立案者、メディア、著名人を集めたこのイベントは、以下の4つのトピックを中心に8月20日から23日の4日間開催します。

・海洋、スポーツ、持続可能な観光
・海洋と生物多様性
・海洋およびプラスチック汚染
・海洋と気候
 
この注目度の高いイベントは、G7サミット中に環境意識の国際的な注目を集め、「青い」アジェンダを推進する理想的な機会になる事でしょう。
